About Us

A philanthropic hub for Johnston County oral health

Bringing together licensed clinicians, public health advocates, and local organizations under a shared commitment to compassionate healthcare delivery across Johnston County and Eastern North Carolina.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission: To improve quality of life across Johnston County by supporting community oral health programs, funding essential dental care for underserved populations, and promoting lifelong preventative dental education. Our Vision: A healthy, thriving community where structural barriers to healthcare are eliminated and every resident has access to dignified, high-quality oral healthcare.

Johnston County Dental Foundation Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to advance community oral health, expand access to preventative dental care, and reduce oral disease disparities throughout Johnston County and surrounding Eastern North Carolina communities. Headquartered in Kenly, the Foundation brings together licensed clinicians, public health advocates, and local organizations under a shared commitment to compassionate healthcare delivery. Under the leadership of Scott Turik, DDS, the Foundation serves as a vital philanthropic hub, supporting local charitable care clinics, funding youth oral health education, and providing resources to low-income families and elderly residents so that quality dental care and health literacy remain accessible to every member of our community.

Core Operational Focus Areas

Community Care Subsidies & Uncompensated Treatment. We partner with regional dental clinics, community health centers, and private practitioners to fund essential preventative, hygiene, and emergency dental care for individuals lacking adequate insurance coverage or financial resources.

Preventative Youth Education & School Outreach. The Foundation develops and distributes age-appropriate oral hygiene education materials, toothbrushes, and preventative care kits to local schools, Head Start programs, and community centers, empowering children to build healthy habits early in life.

Volunteer Clinician Mobilization. We connect local dentists, registered dental hygienists, and clinical support professionals with community outreach events, mobile dental clinics, and free screening days to deliver direct patient care where it is needed most.

Academic Grants & Dental Auxiliaries Support. The Foundation sponsors educational grants and career support for local students pursuing degrees in dental hygiene, dental assisting, and community health, building a stronger rural healthcare workforce for the future.

Charitable Impact & Stewardship

Fiscal Accountability & Transparent Leadership. As a public charity, Johnston County Dental Foundation maintains rigorous financial management. Donor contributions, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants are directed straight into community healthcare programs, medical supplies, and local care delivery.

Regional Public Health Alliances. By collaborating with county health departments, local school districts, and regional non-profit health organizations, the Foundation coordinates outreach efforts effectively to maximize community impact.

Commitment to Health Equity. We advocate for comprehensive care approaches that recognize oral health as a foundational component of overall physical well-being and systemic health.
